Illinois basketball is setting up for a big 2023-2024 season. On Wednesday, Illinois announced on its Twitter page its nonconference slate of games for the upcoming season.

The Fighting Illini will have 9 nonconference matchups this 2022-2023 season with 6 of them being home games. 5 of their opponents are coming off an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Illinois will face the Florida Atlantic Owls, who made the Final Four in the tournament, in the Jimmy V Classic in New York City on Tuesday, December 5. The first road nonconference game of the season for Illinois will be against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, December 9.

The Fighting Illini will face one of their biggest nonconference rivals in the Missouri Tigers on Friday, December 22. Their last nonconference game will be against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, who defeated No. 1 seed Purdue in the first round of the last tournament, on Friday, December 29 at home.

Illinois finished last season with an overall record of 20-13 with a 73-63 loss to Arkansas in the first round of March Madness. We’ll see how Brad Underwood’s squad fares in the nonconference portion of the schedule before gearing up for another brutal B1G stretch.
