Illinois basketball has added a game to its nonconference slate.

The Illini will play UT Martin on Dec. 5, the program announced on Tuesday afternoon:

Illinois didn’t have a mid-week game scheduled for the first week of December. The Illini will now play UT Martin inbetween top 10 showdowns with Baylor and Duke.

Brad Underwood’s squad is 3-0 so far this season, including a narrow win over Ohio on Friday. The Bobcats played well, but preseason All-American Ayo Dosunmu hit two free throws in the game’s final seconds to give Illinois the lead.

Dosunmu is averaging 25.7 points per game so far this season.

Illinois freshmen Adam Miller and Andre Curbelo have also shown promise early on in the year. Veterans Trent Frazier and Kofi Cockburn will give Illinois the required experience to make a deep run into March.

Illinois opens its Big Ten schedule against Minnesota on Dec. 15.

Dosunmu and the rest of the Illini will face No. 2 Baylor in a high-profile matchup on Wednesday night.
