Illinois backup center Brandon Lieb has entered the transfer portal, he announced on Thursday morning.

Lieb just finished his 3rd season with the Illini.

Here’s his announcement:

Despite spending 3 years with the team, Lieb never carved out a consistent role in the rotation. He played in 31 total games and averaged just 3.1 minutes in those contests.

Lieb is an Illinois native. He attended Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Illinois.

Lieb was a 3-star prospect for the Illini in the class of 2020. He was the No. 478 overall player and the No. 82 center in the country for that cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He was also the No. 10 player in the state of Illinois.

Illinois already has 4 commitments in the class of 2023, including 2 from power forwards. The Illini could also look to bolster its front court via the transfer portal this offseason.
