Illinois DL latest to hit transfer portal following 2022 season

Another member of the Illinois program is reportedly heading for the transfer portal. This time, it is a member of the defensive front.
According to reports, defensive lineman Verdis Brown is heading for the transfer portal. Brown made the switch to the defensive line in 2021 after beginning his career as an offensive lineman.

Brown as originally an offensive line prospect via the 2018 recruiting class. He started all 8 games of the 2020 season on the offensive line before switching to the defensive side of the ball under head coach Bret Bielema.
In 2021, Brown appeared in 8 games with 4 tackles. He was not able to finish with any stats in 2022.
Brown is the latest Illinois addition to the entry portal, joining wide receiver Brian Hightower who made the move Wednesday morning.
