Oluwole Betiku Jr. had a productive performance with Illinois this season.

The former five-star product from the 2016 recruiting class began his college career at USC. He eventually transferred to the Illini and was a strong performer in 2019.

Unfortunately, that lone season in Champaign will be the extent of Betiku’s time in an Illinois uniform. He took to Twitter to thank everyone involved for his time at Illinois, finishing his note by indicating that he will be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

Betiku finished the 2019 season with 37 total tackles, 13 for loss, and nine sacks. He led the Illini in sacks while finishing second to Dele Harding in tackles for loss.

Along with the departure of Ayo Shogbonyo who is leaving football behind, Illinois is now facing a very thin defensive line group heading into 2020. Hopefully, head coach Lovie Smith and company can adjust and regroup.
