Boyer is the No. 65 tight end in the nation, according to 247Sports. He’s listed at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds and attends Brother Rice High School.
He’s the seventh commitment in Illinois’ 2022 recruiting class. Bret Bielema’s first class is already front-loaded with in-state talent, with three prospects from Illinois already planning on joining his program.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Illinois currently has the No. 31 class in the nation and the No. 6 class in the Big Ten for the 2022 cycle.
It’s been a big week for Illinois. Bielema also secured a commitment from Rutgers quarterback transfer Artur Sitkowski on Wednesday night.
Recruits like Boyer will be able to take official visits to campus starting on June 1.
The Early Signing Period for the class of 2022 is in December.
