Illinois’ push to add size and talent to the offensive line is paying off.

Wednesday, the Illini received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle Blaise Sparks. The three-star lineman is a native of Fort Myers, Florida and is the seventh player to commit to the program in the 2020 cycle.

Sparks is the third offensive tackle to join this recruiting class, all of which have committed in the last 10 days. Phifer Griffin and Kevin Tyler or the other two recent pledges.

According to 247Sports, Sparks ranks as the No. 156 offensive tackle and is one of the top 225 players out of the state of Florida.

Sparks had five other offers to go along with the interest from Illinois. He picked the Illini over Pitt, Kent State, Southern Miss, Temple and USF.

Illinois is still trying to climb in the 2020 recruiting rankings. The Illini rank last in the B1G and are 87th nationally.
