Illinois is working on the 2024 recruiting class, and Bret Bielema’s staff landed another piece at the expense of one of the head coach’s previous programs.

On Wednesday, 3-star cornerback Vernon Woodward out of Winter Park High School in Florida announced he was committed to the Illini. Woodward announced his commitment after previously taking an official visit to Champaign on June 9.

Prior to his visit to Illinois, Woodward had taken a visit to Wisconsin on June 2 and committed to the Badgers on June 4. Now, he’s flipped to the FamILLy for the 2024 recruiting class.

Woodward is listed as a 6-foot-2 and 180-pound CB and a 3-star prospect. According to the 247 Sports Composite, he’s the No. 75 CB in the country for the cycle.

He joins a recruiting class for Illinois that is currently ranked No. 35 nationally per the 247 Sports Team Composite.
