A member of Illinois’ 2021 recruiting class has decided to look for a new home.

Tuesday evening, former 3-star offensive lineman Brody Wisecarver announced the decision to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He spent just one season with the Fighting Illini.

Wisecarver’s announcement comes just a few days after Illinois closed out spring ball. The Fighting Illini are entering the second year of the Bret Bielema era in 2022, finishing with a 5-7 record last fall.

“I would like to thank Coach Miller, Coach Bielema and the entire Illinois staff for giving me the opportunity to grow on and off the field,” Wisecarver wrote on Twitter. “I am more than grateful for everything I’ve learned in my time here and have nothing but respect for my teammates and coaches. I wish them all the best. With that being said, I am entering the transfer portal and looking forward to what comes next.”

Wisecarver is a 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive tackle out of St. Louis. He was a Top 500 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and was a Top 10 player out of Missouri.

Last season, Wisecarver did not see any game action and dealt with an injury. He will have all four years of eligibility to use at his next destination.
