A former Missouri wide receiver will be continuing his college football career at Illinois.
Monday, the Fighting Illini received a commitment from Khmari Thompson, a former wide receiver at Missouri and a member of the 2018 recruiting class. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month after spending his first two years with the Tigers.
Thompson announced his decision with a social media post.
“New Journey…New Family…New Number…New Opportunities,” Thompson wrote on Twitter. “I’m ready for it all, can’t wait to wear that orange and blue.”

In his two years at Missouri, Thompson appeared in three games for the Tigers. All three came in 2018 and he did not see any action in 2019. He has utilized his redshirt season and has not recorded any statistics, according to his player profile on MUTigers.com.
Thompson will be forced to sit out the 2020 season unless he is granted an immediate eligibility waiver by the NCAA. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
As a recruit, Thompson was ranked as one of the top 150 wide receivers in the 2018 recruiting class. The Lawrenceville, Georgia was also one of the top 100 prospects out of his home state.
