Illinois has been behind on adding members to its 2021 recruiting class, but the Illini have recently added a third commitment.

Thursday, the Fighting Illini received a verbal pledge from three-star linebacker Trevor Moffitt. The native of Bushnell, Florida becomes just the third player in the cycle to commit to Lovie Smith and company. He made an announcement on Twitter.

“I’m ALL IN,” Moffitt wrote on Twitter. “Illini Nation Stand up! We Bringing the Heat To LittyVille.”

Moffitt received several FBS offers on the recruiting front, but opted to commit to Illinois. He received interest from Appalachian State, Colorado State, Army, UConn, FAU, Navy, Temple and UAB, among others.

Moffitt is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound linebacker who has been a three-sport athlete at the high school level. During his junior season at South Sumter High School, Moffitt racked up 110 tackles, with 22 tackles for loss and nine sacks.

Illinois now has commitments from prospects out of Florida, Georgia and Texas. The Illini’s 2021 class ranks 87th nationally and 14th in the B1G.
