Illinois HC Brad Underwood provides simple description for Kofi Cockburn's impressive night
Kofi Cockburn provided the best performance of his Illini career Tuesday night.
In Illinois’ win over Minnesota, Cockburn poured in a career-high 33 points in just 25 minutes of action. He completed the double-double with 13 rebounds and contributed two blocks. Making the performance even more impressive, Cockburn shot 12-for-15 from the floor.
The Gophers clearly never had an answer for Cockburn down low as he imposed his will in the big win. However, head coach Brad Underwood did have an answer for the type of performance Cockburn put up.
One word kept resurfacing. That word was dominant, for obvious reasons:

In case there was any doubt about the gameplan, Underwood indicated the Illini were intent on feeding Kofi early and often against Minnesota. If that was indeed the gameplan, it was executed to perfection by the Illini:
#Illini Underwood: Great night for Kofi… He was dominant. Our game plan was going inside to him from the very jump.

It was definitely a great rebound performance for Illinois after the tough loss to Missouri. Underwood and company are now 1-0 in the B1G and will move on to face Rutgers on Sunday.
