Head coach Brad Underwood and Illinois hoops picked up a big-time win to start the July 4 weekend.

Early Saturday morning, the Illini picked up a commitment from Sencire Harris. Harris a four-star recruit out of Akron, Ohio.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 160 lbs., Harris held multiple offers from across the country, including Maryland, Xavier, and Hampton. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Harris is the No. 109 player nationally, the No. 15 SG in the class, and the No. 2 player out of Ohio for 2022.

The commitment of Harris gives Illinois two commits for the cycle with three-star shooting guard Reggie Bass out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. There is still some work to be done for Underwood and his staff, but the addition of Harris is a nice piece to build around moving forward. Hopefully Harris and Bass are just the start for the cycle.
