Illinois has gone international again on the recruiting trail.

Saturday, the Illini Inquirer reported that 6-foot-7 Belgian forward Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk gave his verbal pledge to Illinois. He is a member of the 2019 recruiting class, becoming the third player to commit.

All three players in Illinois’ 2019 class are international players. Bosmans-Verdonk made his announcement to commit to Illinois via Instagram.

“First off, a big s/o goes to my teammates, coaches and everyone else that played a part in my personal development and helped me become the young man I am today, both on and off the court. More importantly, I want to thank my family and in particular my parents and wonderful brother for being my biggest support and sticking by my side no matter what,” Bosmans-Verdonk wrote. “With this being said, I’m truly blessed to announce that I’ve signed with the University of Illinois. I’m extremely excited to become a part of the #Illini family. #EveryDayGuys”

Not much is known about the Belgian forward, but he brings good size to Champaign. He also has the ability to be used in multiple situations, as a pull-up shooter and the ability to create off the dribble.

The Illini are expected to make a big leap in the 2019-20 season after finishing last season below the .500 mark.
