Illinois basketball is building a strong non-conference schedule for the 2023 season.
According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, the Illini are set to face off against FAU at Madison Square Garden in New York City at the Jimmy V Classic in 2023. The exact date is yet to be determined, though the tournament almost always takes place in the first few weeks of December.
A few notable non-con matchups for the Illini include vs. FAU, vs. Marquette, at Tennessee and vs. Mizzou.

Contrary to what you might be thinking, this is likely to be a very tough game for the Illini. Dusty May’s squad returns all its top talent from last season’s Final Four run.
The Owls have proven they can dance with anyone in the country with that roster. And they’ll only be better with another year under their belts, so don’t shout fluke quite yet.
