Illinois is 2-0 against Wisconsin, MSU despite leading for insanely low amount of time
Illinois is 6-4 overall. Can you believe it?
Just four games ago, the Fighting Illini were 2-4 and the rumblings of coach Lovie Smith and his job security were certainly out there. But then, the team won four straight.
It shocked Wisconsin and hasn’t lost since. This past Saturday, Illinois trailed Michigan State at one point by 25 points. In the fourth quarter, however, the Fighting Illini scored 27 points and ended up winning the game 37-34. It was a comeback for the ages.

One statistic in particular sums up how Illinois won the games against both Wisconsin and Michigan State — two games that Smith’s group was supposed to lose by at least two touchdowns apiece:
#Illini Fact: @IlliniFootball lead both Wisconsin and Michigan State for a combined total of 5 seconds.

That stat is pretty incredible. Two games, two wins. Total time of leading in both games? Five seconds.
That surely isn’t sustainable, but then again, a win is a win. And at 6-4, every Illinois fan has to be happy about its record through the first 10 games of the season.
