Illinois has picked up a new commitment for its 2024 recruiting class.

Angelo McCullom, a defensive lineman from Lewis Center, Ohio out of Pickerington North High School, announced his pledge to play for Bret Bielema’s program on Thursday. He announced the big news on his Twitter account, sharing a note with the following:

“I want to start by thanking GOD for allowing me to be in the position that I am in. I want to thank my mom for everything she has done along this journey and all the sacrifices, time, money and dedication you have put in to make me the person I am today. I also want to thank my Pops for supporting me and pushing me to be the best version of myself I can be. I want to thank all my former coaches that have pushed me to be the best version of myself, on and off the field. I want to thank all the universities that put faith in me and have given me an offer. With that being said, I am beyond blessed to say that I will be joining the famILLy and continuing my academic and athletic career as a fighting Illini at The University of Illinois.”

McCullom is listed as measuring 6-3, 260 pounds. On the 247Sports compositing rankings, McCullom is rated 3-stars, the No. 28 Ohio product, No. 76 defensive lineman and No. 742 prospect overall nationally in the 2024 recruiting class.
