AJ Bush committed to Nebraska coming out of high school, but he eventually decided to transfer to Virginia Tech.

In 2017, he served as a backup, appearing in five games and completing seven of his 11 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 19 times for 129 yards.

Now, though, he’ll move on to his third school, as he announced on Monday that he was transferring to Illinois as a graduate transfer for the 2018 season:

Considering Jeff George Jr. and Chayce Crouch have both left the program this offseason, coach Lovie Smith has to be happy he has some experience at the position.

Now, Bush will compete with rising sophomore Cameron Thomas for the starting position, with a decent chance of starting the 2018 season under center for the Illini.
