Illinois added a big-time piece to its 2024-25 roster on Sunday afternoon.

The Fighting Illini landed a commitment from ex-Arizona guard Kylan Boswell. The former Wildcat spent 2 seasons at Arizona and earned Pac-12 all-freshman team honors in 2022-23.

Boswell averaged 9.6 points and 3.6 assists per game this season for Arizona. He will presumably have a significant role on Illinois’ 2024-25 squad.

Boswell is also a Champaign native. Here’s his announcement:

“Champaign-Urbana has always been a part of my success and I will wear Illinois on my chest with pride,” Boswell wrote in-part. “I am excited to pursue my dreams with coach Underwood and his staff. Thank you Illini nation for your love and support. I feel blessed to be coming home.”

Boswell is the latest addition to Illinois’ 2024-25 roster via the portal. It’s been a fast start for Underwood and his staff, who have now landed 3 commitments from transfers in this cycle so far.

Former Louisville forward Tre White and former Mercer forward Jake Davis have also committed to the Fighting Illini. The group currently sits as the No. 1 transfer class in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Illinois is also set to add a couple of in-state high school prospects in Morez Johnson and Jason Jakstys. Johnson is a top-30 prospect nationally for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Illinois has a lot of production to replace this offseason with Terrence Shannon Jr., Coleman Hawkins and Marcus Domask all expected to move on.
