Illinois is still in the running to land a big man via transfer.

Friday afternoon, ex-UMass big man Tre Mitchell released a list of his top six transfer destinations. Illinois was listed, along with LSU, Georgia, Bryant, Texas, and Florida State.

Mitchell has been an impact performer over two seasons with the Minutemen. The 6-foot-9 Mitchell averaged 18.8 points per game during 2020 in 13 games (12 starts).

For his career, he has per-game averages of 18 points, 7.2 rebounds, two assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 49% from the floor. Mitchell is a two-time All-A 10 performer who can also stretch the floor, shooting 34% from three-point range in his career.

Adding Mitchell to the roster would be a nice boost for Brad Underwood and company. He was a four-star recruit and the No. 84 player nationally for the 2019 recruiting class.

Considering the news Illinois has dealt with recently, including losing two assistants to Kentucky, Underwood and the Illini would greatly appreciate some good news this offseason.
