Illinois has finally revealed its starting quarterback.

Lovie Smith met with the media on Monday afternoon to discuss the upcoming week as the Illini open the season on Saturday against Kent State. The head coach finally came to a decision on the quarterback situation, naming A.J. Bush the starter.

Bush is a graduate transfer out of Virginia Tech.

Last season, Bush appeared in five games for the Hokies, completing 7-of-11 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. He also tallied 129 rushing yards on 19 carries.

Bush has one season of eligibility remaining. Prior to playing at Virginia Tech, the quarterback had stops at Nebraska and Iowa Western.
