Lovie Smith has officially filled his on-field staff as Illinois heads into spring football.

On Wednesday, Illinois introduced new running backs coach Mike Bellamy and offensive line coach Bob McClain, rounding out the on-field staff for the Illini. Lou Hernandez will also be the strength and conditioning coach in Champaign.

Bellamy returns to Illinois after spending the last two seasons with Toledo. He had a previous stint with the program under Tim Beckman and Bill Cubit that ran from 2012-15.

McClain was an offensive analyst with Illinois last season and has earned a promotion to offensive line coach. Before coming to Champaign, he was the offensive coordinator at Lenoir-Rhyne University, a Division II program located in North Carolina.

Like Bellamy, Hernandez is also entering his second stint at Illinois as strength and conditioning coach. He served in the same role on Ron Zook’s staff from 2005-11. Hernandez spent the last seven season with North Carolina.

Illinois is coming off a 4-8 campaign in 2018, finishing 2-7 in B1G play.
