Illinois has set a date for the spring game.

Monday night, the Fighting Illini announced that it has set a spring game date for Monday, April 19 at 7 p.m. CT. The game will air on Big Ten Network. In the team’s Twitter post, there was not an indication of whether or not fans would be permitted to attend.

This will mark the first Orange and Blue Game under new head coach Bret Bielema. Illinois is set to open spring practice this month.

Ohio State football pausing all team activities

Last season, Illinois finished the season with a 2-6 record. Athletic director Josh Whitman decided to part ways with Lovie Smith before the team’s final game of the season and officially hired Bielema shortly before the Fighting Illini took the field against Penn State.

After the spring game, Illinois will focus on a Week 0 matchup against B1G West foe Nebraska to open the 2021 season.
