Illinois offensive lineman Alex Palczewski has officially undergone successful ACL surgery.

Palczewski put a tweet out on his Twitter page showcasing that he had the surgery and that he’s going to come back stronger than ever:

He had to be carted off the field on their Nov. 14 game against Rutgers after suffering the injury. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this season doesn’t count against a player’s eligibility, and it sounds like Palczewski is planning on being back for the Fighting Illini next season.

The reference to Ireland is that Illinois is currently scheduled to kick off the 2021 season against Nebraska in Dublin. Hopefully that game is able to go off without a hitch come August.

Before going down in that game against Rutgers, he had started 40 consecutive games for Illinois. Starting in his place now is tackle Julian Pearl.

Illinois will conclude their season this Saturday when they play No. 14 Northwestern before waiting on an opponent for the Week 9 crossover game.. Kickoff is at Noon ET and it will be shown by ESPN2.
