Tuesday, Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported that Boyd will be leaving Illinois after being redshirted for the 2018 season. He started in nine games for the Illini in 2017 as a true freshman.

Boyd was a member of Illinois’ 2017 recruiting class and was one of the top members in that cycle for the Illini. He was a top 500 prospect and was a top five player out of Missouri.
Since Lovie Smith arrive in Champaign, the Illini have dealt with a slew of players leaving the program. While that didn’t necessarily slow down this year, Illinois has been able to rake in some highly-talented players thanks to transfer.
Illinois finished the 2018 season 4-8 with a 2-7 mark in B1G play.
