Badie also received offers from Michigan State, Arizona State, Tennessee, Minnesota and others.
Illinois had a major proximity advantage in his recruitment, as Badie attends Oswego East High School in Oswego, Illinois.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Badie is the No. 74 linebacker and No. 731 overall player in the country.
Badie is now Illinois second-highest ranked commitment for the class of 2022. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Illini’s class ranks No. 36 nationally and No. 10 in the Big Ten.
When Bret Bielema took this job this offseason, he said he wanted to make in-state recruiting a priority. That’s been the case so far, as the Illini already have seven commitments from the state of Illinois.
Prospects in the class of 2022 can officially sign with their programs during the Early Signing Period in December.
