Illinois head coach Lovie Smith won’t be speaking with the media on Saturday, despite having a press conference scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, Smith was scheduled to meet with reporters to recap the 2018 season. While the press conference wasn’t expected to have many major announcements, there was some curiosity as to whether or not the head coach would shed some light on the defensive coordinator situation.

The Illini were hosting several recruits on Saturday, which would clearly take top priority over a press conference, especially with the 2018 season in the rearview mirror. Illinois currently has 11 commits in the 2019 class, which ranks 64th nationally and 12th in the B1G.

Illinois does not have any pledges in the 2020 class.

Smith concluded his third season as head coach of Illinois. The Illini ended the season 4-8 with a 2-7 mark in conference play.

The Illini are 9-27 in three seasons under Smith.
