Illinois reportedly in contact with veteran G from Virginia Tech via transfer portal

Illinois is reportedly among a number of teams in contact with a veteran contributor out of the ACC.

According to Andrew Slater with Pro Insight, the Illini have checked in with Nahiem Alleyne out of Virginia Tech via the transfer portal. Illinois is one of 12 teams so far to have contact so far.

Originally a 3-star member of the 2019 recruiting class, Alleyne played 3 seasons for the Hokies and appeared in 90 career games (84 starts). The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 9.7 points and is a threat from deep as a 39% shooter from 3-point range for his career.

Alleyne and the Hokies put on a dramatic run to the ACC Tournament title this past season before losing to Texas in the NCAA Tournament.
