Illinois is losing a wide receiver to transfer, according to a report.
Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer reported that sophomore receiver Carmoni Green has left the program. He becomes the third member of the team to part ways since the end of the season. Offensive linemen Zeke Martin and Adam Solomon also departed after the year concluded.
Four others — Bennett Williams, Lou Dorsey, Reuben Unije and Cam Thomas — all left the team during the season.
Green played in five games for the Illini in 2018, hauling in 10 receptions for 93 yards. He missed the first three games of the season due to a violation of team rules. He did not play in the final four contests, either.
The receiver was a member of Illinois’ 2017 recruiting class and was an early enrollee. He was expected to be a key piece in shoring up the Illini’s receiving corps. But in two years, Green played in just 11 games. He totaled 18 catches for 168 yards.
Illinois finished the 2018 season 4-8 and 2-7 in B1G play. There was no mention of a potential landing spot for Green.
