Illinois rides hot streak with commitment from key in-state DL for 2024 recruiting class
Illinois is riding some recruiting momentum after a strong weekend of official visits. That momentum paid off with a key in-state pledge for the FamILLy early on Monday.
The player is Eddie Tuerk, a 3-star defensive lineman out of Lyons Township in La Grange, Illinois. After receiving offers from Iowa, Miami, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Michigan, Nebraska and others, Tuerk announced he is staying home to play for Bret Bielema’s program.
“…Lastly thank you Coach Bielema, Coach Jamison, and Coach Miller for giving me this opportunity,” wrote Tuerk. “I’ll be STAYING HOME with the famILLy. I’m committed to the University of Illinois! It’s time to get to work.”

Tuerk is listed at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds as a 3-star DL for the class of 2024. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Tuerk is the 11th overall player in Illinois and the 45th DL prospect in the country.
The addition of Tuerk adds to a pair of Sunday commitments for the Illini coming out of the weekend of visits. That brings Illinois up to 6 commitments for the cycle moving forward.
