The Jon Cornish Award has been given to the top Canadian in college football since 2017. Now, Illinois RB Chase Brown is 1 of 5 finalists for the award.

Brown is a native of London, Ontario. He led the team on the ground with 1,005 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns in 2021 and should be one of the leaders in the Fighting Illinois backfield once again this season. Brown has played in 22 games for Illinois so far, and has 1,563 yards rushing in his career with the Fighting Illini.

  • Jesse Luketa-   Senior, Penn State, LB (Ottawa, Ontario)
  • Nick Mardner- Junior, Hawaii, WR (Mississauga, Ontario)
  • John Metchie III- Junior, Alabama, WR (Brampton, Ontario)
  • Jared Wayne- Junior, Pittsburgh, WR (Peterborough, Ontario)

John Metchie III was the most recent player to win the award, taking it home in the 2020-2021 season. If Brown wins it, he’ll be the 1st player from the B1G to win it.
