The Illini have ushered in several new uniforms for the 2018 season, but there is one particular combination that will be making its first appearance of the season. Illinois will be sporting the orange helmet, blue top and blue pants for this weekend’s contest.

Illinois will battle USF at Soldier Filed on Saturday, home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears. It’ll be somewhat of a homecoming for head coach Lovie Smith, who coached the Bears from 2004-2012.
Smith was 81-63 in nine seasons, winning the NFC North Division three times and taking Chicago to Super Bowl XLI.
Saturday’s matchup between Illinois and USF marks the second game in a head-to-head series. The Bulls took last year’s game in Tampa 47-23.
Both team enter the game 2-0.
