Illinois saw some notable performances in its Week 0 victory over Nebraska this week.

This morning, the B1G recognized those performances in its Player of the Week awards.

After Brandon Peters got hurt in the first quarter, Artur Sitkowski came in at quarterback and was named B1G Offensive Player of the Week. The Rutgers transfer completed 12 of 15 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the 30-22 win over the Cornhuskers.

On the other side of the ball, linebacker CJ Hart was named B1G Defensive Player of the Week after a strong showing that included a big scoop-and-score touchdown just before halftime.

It should come as no surprise that Illini punter Blake Hayes was named B1G Special Teams Player of the Week. His first punt was buried at the one yard line and another one of his kicks turned into a safety.

To complete the sweep, wide receiver Isaiah Williams was named B1G Freshman of the Week. The quarterback-turned-receiver led the Illini with 41 receiving yards and a touchdown for Bret Bielema’s group.
