Illinois has found its next Strength and Conditioning Coach, reaching into Jeff Monken’s Army staff to find the right man.

Sunday evening, the Illini announced that Tenarius “Tank” Wright would be the next S&C coach and the first for new head coach Bret Bielema at Illinois. According to the release, Wright previously worked with Bielema as an assistant on the strength and conditioning staff at Arkansas from 2014-17. He also spent two seasons at Michigan.

Here’s what Bielema had to say about the hiring, via release:

“Throughout my career I have witnessed the growth and development of young men in their college careers that put them on a path of success,” Bielema said. “Tank Wright was someone who stood out to me immediately in relating and motivating people to places they have never been. He captivates their hearts and mind in new ways of thinking and training to be the best them. We are excited about the balance and integrity he will lead our strength and conditioning program while also building a foundation of work ethic and demeanor to Join the Fight.”

Hopefully Wright is able to produce solid results with Bielema in Champaign.
