Illinois unveils 'Gray Ghost' uniforms
First-year head coach Lovie Smith has struggled in his first season with Illniois, as the team currently sits at 2-5 overall.
Maybe new uniforms can inspire Smith’s Fighting Illini.
This Saturday, when the team takes on 5-2 Minnesota for its homecoming game, Illinois will be wearing its ‘Gray Ghost’ uniforms.

The ‘Gray Ghost’ uniforms look pretty slick, but almost seem like a gray version of Penn State’s uniforms. Regardless, the Fighting Illini need all the help they can get, and if an upset over the Golden Gophers and some cool new uniforms do the trick to catch the eyes of a new recruit or two, I’m all for it.
The Illinois-Minnesota game is set to start at 11 a.m. CST on Saturday at Illinois. The game will be televised on either BTN or BTN2.
