Illinois has a new playing surface inside Memorial Stadium, and it is a dazzling look.

On Friday, the Illini released a full gallery of new photos for the turf inside Zuppke Field. One of the new additions is the “FamILLy” motto of head coach Bret Bielema.

Hopefully a lot of wins are in store for this field:

Along with the redesign of the field, Bielema has already announced that the team will have a new uniform look for the 2023 season. While it would have been cool to see the uniforms on the field in 2022, Bielema said that was never a possibility due to production and logistics.

During Bielema’s first season at the helm, Illinois went 5-7 with wins over Nebraska, Minnesota, Penn State and Northwestern. Now, it will be interesting to see what the Illini have in store for 2022 as they try to make a run at a bowl game.
