Illinois walk-on offensive lineman surprised with scholarship in awesome video
We all need some heartwarming news, especially Illinois football fans.
This 0-2 start is not what the Illini faithful were hoping for. To give them some reprieve, the team posted a really cool video regarding a walk-on lineman and a big surprise from head coach Lovie Smith.
I want to say thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaching staff for believing in me these last 3 years. I am so grateful to be part of this team. #WON #OLPride https://t.co/RqJK6pnlYJ

Just so cool. It’s not only the excitement from Alex Philstrom, but from the rest of his teammates mobbing him. You can tell he is really well-liked and guys are rooting for him.
The 6-foot-6 lineman out of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is in his junior season. He made his first start against Purdue this past Saturday.
Illinois and Minnesota kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
