Illinois WR Josh Imatorbhebhe sounds off on Twitter following B1G decision: 'This is some political BS'
Many players from the B1G took to social media on Tuesday after the conference made the decision to postpone fall sports for the 2020 season due to COVID-19. It became the first Power 5 league to make that move.
While there were plenty of student-athletes speaking up about the disappointing decision, one of the loudest voices on Twitter was that of Illinois wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe. The senior sounded off on the B1G’s decision in a string of tweets on Tuesday, calling the decision “political BS.”
Imatorbhebhe also said “We want to play” and asked why players couldn’t “sign waivers” if they wanted to play football this fall. Below are the nine tweets Imatorbhebhe fired off on Tuesday:
This is some political bs

Why can we sign waivers for concussions and not COVID-19? Asking for a friend?

Oh it’s because we don’t know of the long-term health risks! Right.. Yeah, we just found out about CTE not too long ago

Imatorbhebhe wasn’t the only player from the B1G to show disappointment and frustration. Michigan fifth-year defensive back Tyler Cochran took to Instagram, saying that university presidents in the B1G were incompetent.
Cochran also accused University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel of failing to meet with players to inform them of the decision.
Last season, Imatorbhebhe was one of the B1G’s most prominent receivers. He totaled 634 yards and 9 touchdowns on 33 receptions, often making highlight-reel grabs throughout the year.
Imatorbhebhe was entering his senior season and was going to be joined by brother and tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe, who transferred from USC to Illinois.
