We’ve had the first team have to back out of a bowl game due to Covid-19. On Wednesday, Texas A&M announced that it will not be able to play in the Gator Bowl after an outbreak of Covid has struck the team.

Now there’s a search for teams who are eligible to play in the bowl game to take the Aggies’ place. Bret Bielema has already made his case on social media in a recent Tweet.

According to a report from Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, a source told him that Illinois alum and Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan wants to see the Fighting Illini play Wake Forest in the Gator Bowl. Khan attended the University of Illinois from 1967 to 1971 where he got his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.

It’ll be interesting to see what team the NCAA decides to have fill in for Texas A&M. However, the Fighting Illini are getting a lot of support.
