Jakari Norwood is on the move via the transfer portal, announcing his next destination on Sunday. After 4 seasons at Illinois, Norwood is heading east to join Temple for 2022.

Norwood was 4th on the Illini during the 2021 season with 120 rushing yards on 4.4 yards per carry:

Norwood initially joined Illinois as a 3-star prospect out of Deerfield Beach, Florida during the 2018 recruiting class. He rushed for 244 yards during his career at Illinois.

With Chase Brown and freshman Josh McCray returning for 2022 after dominating the workload in 2021, there were not many extra carries to go around in the backfield for the Illini. Now, Norwood will get a chance to contribute at a new destination in 2022.

After combining for more than 1,500 rushing yards in 2021, Brown and McCray give Illinois a dynamic backfield for 2022. Hopefully that gives Illini a great shot at returning to a bowl game in Bret Bielema’s second season with the program.
