Jalon Daniels will be reportedly starting for Kansas against Illinois in Week 2. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported on the news.

Daniels missed the season opener with Missouri State due to back tightness. As long as there are no more setbacks, Daniels will be QB1 for the game.

Daniels will bring another element to the game if he plays. Daniels had 2,014 yards passing with 25 total touchdowns last season. He can create plays with his arms and legs.

Saturday will be the first time that Kansas and Illinois have met in football since 1968. Kansas dominated Illinois in that game 47-7, and Illinois will do everything in its power to keep that from happening again.

Illinois survived a scare in Week 1 against Toledo. Luke Altmyer led a comeback in the second half to give the Fighting Illini a 30-28 win over the Rockets. It all started with a Myles Scott pick-6.

Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 live from Lawrence.
