Jartavius Martin was one of the many B1G products taken off the board in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Martin was the second Illinois player to be selected.

Devon Witherspoon was taken by the Seattle Seahawks with the fifth overall pick. Martin will be playing for the Washington Commanders this upcoming season.

Martin gained plenty of experience while in Champaign, playing in a total of 50 games for the Fighting Illini. Last season Martin accounted for 64 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 3 interceptions.

One of the things that the Commanders are known for is the defensive line. Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and Daron Payne are a scary force to deal with. Martin should energize the secondary.

Witherspoon and Martin led an Illinois secondary that allowed just 165.4 yards passing per game which was the sixth-fewest in the country. The Fighting Illini defense as a whole was on another level, allowing the fewest points per game (12.3) and second-fewest total offensive yards per game (263.8).

Welcome to the NFL.
