The Illinois Fighting Illini are set to take on the Northwestern Wildcats to end the regular season on Saturday.

Per Joey Wagner and Jeremy Werner, both of 247Sports, Josh McCray is not traveling with the team to Evanston. In his place, freshman Jordan Anderson made the trip. Anderson has yet to see the field for the Illini.

McCray has only played in 3 games in 2022 after suffering a knee injury in Week 0 against Wyoming. McCray returned against Nebraska, getting 1 carry for 4 yards. McCray also played the following week against Michigan State, getting 3 carries and 2 receptions.

McCray has been dealing with a leg injury since returning, and now it seems his 2022 season could be over. McCray was a key piece for the Illini in 2021, finishing with 112 rushes for 549 yards and 2 TDs. With McCray out, Chase Brown has gotten the vast majority of carries and has been one of the most efficient backs in the nation.
