Kylan Boswell has been overshadowed a bit during the strong start for Illinois, and some of that is understandable. Kasparas Jakucionis has looked like one of the best players in the entire country this season and Tomislav Ivisic is the dynamic all-around 7-footer.

However, Boswell reminded fans of his value on Sunday with a well-rounded performance vs. Chicago State. He finished the game with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double, just the 7th all-time in Illini history. Marcus Domask was the last to complete the feat during the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Boswell completed his triple-double with one final assist with 1:47 left in the 117-64 rout for Illinois. Ivisic led the Illini with 23 points while 6 players reached double figures, including 3 players off the bench.

Here’s a look at the highlights from Boswell:

After the game, Boswell described it as “kind of surreal” to go from watching Illini games to starring for Illinois on the court. The Champaign native began his career at Arizona but transferred to Brad Underwood’s program for the 2024-25 season.

He has started the first 12 games of the season for the Illini and is averaging career-high marks in points (10.6) and rebounds (4.5) while also averaging 3.5 assists.

Illinois will now prepare for Big Ten play to resume with a West Coast road trip to start the new year. The Illini face Oregon in Eugene on Jan. 2 and will travel to Seattle to play Washington on Jan. 5.
