A lot of the recruiting focus might now be on the 2022 class, but Bret Bielema isn’t quite done with adding members to Illinois’ 2021 group. The Fighting Illini made room for another prospect on Saturday.
Kenenna Odeluga, an athlete out of Chicago, has flipped his commitment from Penn to Illinois. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.
“I am relieved and humbled to say that I have received a full scholarship and will be committing to The University of Illinois for the next 4-5 years of my life,” Odeluga wrote. “Thank you Coach Bielema and the whole Illinois Staff for believing in me.”

Odeluga is listed as a 2-star prospect on 247Sports’ website and ranks as the No. 315 athlete in the 2021 class and the No. 81 player out of Illinois, regardless of position.
In addition to Penn and Illinois, Odeluga received multiple FBS offers, particularly out of the MAC. Schools to show interest included Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.
The Fighting Illini are now up to 18 commits in its 2021 class. Illinois ranks 13th in the B1G and 69th nationally.
