Illinois and Indiana are dueling it out in the B1G Tournament quarterfinals. One of the heroes of the first half proved to be Omar Payne, though not necessarily for his contributions on the floor.

Following one play, the game ball wound up lodged and stuck behind the backboard and the goal. With a little help from a broom, Payne was able to dislodge the ball and save the day.

Amazingly, this same incident played out during last year’s Ohio State vs. Purdue matchup in the tournament. Then, it was Purdue’s Zach Edey coming to the rescue.

In the action on the court, Illinois headed to halftime with a 33-31 lead in what has been a back-and-forth battle. Coleman Hawkins and Kofi Cockburn led the way for the Illini with 9 points apiece. Trayce Jackson-Davis, Rob Phinisee and Trey Galloway all have 6 points apiece to lead Indiana.
