Lovie Ball has made its triumphant return in 2020.

It took nearly 27 minutes, by the Illinois defense was able to force a Wisconsin turnover, something it did so well a season ago. But this time, a wild fumble turned into a touchdown for the Fighting Illini, cutting a 14-0 Badgers lead in half a few minutes before the end of the 2nd quarter.

Graham Mertz completed a pass to Jake Ferguson, but the tight end fumbled the football and it was recovered by Tarique Barnes, who raced 39 yards to the end zone. The fumble was forced by Sydney Brown.

Even though the play was reviewed, the officials upheld the touchdown ruling.

Everyone seemed to stop on the play, believing the fumble had been recovered while a player was down on the field. Barnes did the smart thing and took off towards the end zone. It paid off for the Illinois, who were able to finally get on the scoreboard.
