Illinois football has had its ups and downs this season.
The Fighting Illini started their 2018 campaign with 2 straight wins, but then proceeded to lose the next 2. Illinois then played Rutgers and won by 21 points, but followed that with 3 straight losses.
This past week, Illinois defeated Minnesota 55-31. The Fighting Illini’s rushing attack absolutely went off, amassing 430 yards and 5 TDs. Illinois averaged 12.3 yards per carry.
Yes, 12.3.
So ahead of the game against Nebraska on Saturday, Illinois coach Lovie Smith believes in his offense. During his weekly show with Martin O’Donnell, Smith talked about quite a few things, but at the 3:45 mark, Smith gets asked about Nebraska and what to expect:

He says that with the offense Illinois has, he feels as though the team will be able to get things done.
Does that mean he expects a win? Or does it mean that Illinois should just be able to put up some points?
We won’t know for sure, but we will find out exactly what happens at noon on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Illinois-Nebraska will be televised on BTN.
