There’s been a lot of movement in Champaign over the last 24 hours. The total number of players to leave the program within the last day is up to six, with Jeremy Werner of Illinois Inquirer reporting on two more departures on Tuesday.
The latest players to leave the program are wide receiver James Frenchie and offensive lineman Blaise Sparks. Frenchie has decided to leave the program, though it was not mentioned whether or not he’s in the NCAA transfer portal.
Sparks has entered his name into the transfer database.
Sparks appeared in one game for the Fighting Illini during his first season with the program. Frenchie played in five games at Illinois, primarily as a punt returner.
In the last 24 hours, Illinois has seen the departures of the following players:
- OL Brevyn Jones
- DL Anthony Shipton
- OL Blaise Sparks
- DL Tre’von Riggins
- RB/WR Kyron Cumby
- WR James Frenchie
Also, Illini Inquirer reported that redshirt freshmen offensive linemen Kevin Tyler and Phifer Griffin left the program following spring practice.
