Oklahoma receiver A.D. Miller had committed to transferring to Illinois shortly after the 2018 season concluded, but it appears there’s been a recent change of heart.

Jake Trotter of ESPN reported that Miller will be returning to Oklahoma for his final season with the Sooners. The news is a huge blow for the Illini, who were hoping to strengthen their receiving corps this fall.

Miller is the second receiver to spurn Illinois this offseason. Miami receiver Jeff Thomas also announced that he would transfer and join the Illini this spring, but decided to stay following Manny Diaz’s hire.

The Illini had been hoping to add some playmakers at the position, which has been a deficiency in the passing attack. The transfer market appeared to be a place Lovie Smith was thriving this offseason, but he’s been rejected in devastating fashion on two separate occasions.

Miller appeared in nine games for the Sooners in 2018, catching seven passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. In three years at Oklahoma, Miller has totaled 21 receptions for 236 yards and four touchdowns.
